Syrian President Assad’s forces have until recently, avoided bombing the Kurdish fighters in Syria, instead forging a loose alliance with them.
The reason for this loose alliance is clear: Assad needs all the support he can get in terms of boots on the ground in his fight against those opposed to his government. The Islamic State (IS) is one of those groups that is a big threat to Assad’s power and the Kurdish fighters have been allowed to fight them while the government concentrates on fighting other groups. The French city of Lille has held an annual flea market for centuries. This flea market doubles the population every year, but the Mayor of Lille has cancelled this year’s market after the series of IS attacks which have rocked France this year.
Restaurants were counting on the market to boost sales, but with the cancellation of this year’s edition, they can’t make the kind of money they wanted to make. Many traders cant also sell their wares.

U.S. military officials are closely watching social media and news reports that say ISIS believes it may soon come under siege in Raqqa,

The US Pentagon said on Friday that it had killed ISIS’ finance minister, Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, whom many analysts say is the group’s No. 2 leader.
According to the Pentagon US special forces (probably Seal Team 6 or the Delta Force) helicopters swooped down on the ISIS leader’s car and blasted it.
